Christine Jones

Christine Jones, age 80, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2026.Christine was born on June 9, 1945, to the union of Cleo and Albert Jones in Gunnison, Mississippi. She later relocated to Evansville with her family.

Christine accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She loved helping in the church as well as serving those around her. Many people called her “Mom” because she possessed a selfless spirit that made everyone feel loved and welcomed.

Christine departed this life on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Albert Jones; her two sisters, Fannie Smith and Ella Mae Bronner; and her brother, Eddie Washington. She was also preceded in death by her Auntie Hattie Bronner; her longtime partner, Elton Morris; and her sons, Elton Funches, Elton Morris Jr (Joe Boy) and John Lee Funches.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Debra Crawford (Juan), Minister Angela Sanders (Carl), Viola Morris, Sandra Brown, Birtie Johnson (Angelo) of Chicago, IL, and Alice Davis. She is also survived by her sons: Dennis Anderson (Gloria), Otis Morris, Larry Anderson (LA), Lee Funches (Debra) of California, and Minister J.E. Morris (Debra) of Louisville, KY.

Christine is further survived by her sister, Hattie Brandon (Will) of Gunnison, Mississippi; her aunties, Irene Harris of Shelby, Mississippi; Elenora Brown of North Carolina; Jeanette Funches;Kimberly Morris; Rosemary Morris; Mary Carter; and Donna Grinstead; as well as her best friend, Jessie Higgins. She is also remembered by Reverend Floyd Edwards, the church family of Mt. Olive Galilee Baptist Church, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
