Carrie Lillian Mclain age 91, born April 17, 1924 to the late Robert Walden and Katie Harris in Evansville, IN , passed away while in hospice care May 29, 2015.
Carrie attended Lincoln Clark Douglas and graduated from Lincoln High School. She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 60 years.
Ms. Carrie worked at the former Chrysler plant during war times and retired from the Vanderburgh County Building Authority. She enjoyed cooking, eating out and welcoming everyone into her home.
Ms. Carrie is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers; Robert Walden and John Thomas, husband Samuel Mclain to whom she was married for 23 years, and son Kenneth McLain and her soul mate of many years who she traveled with extensively Fred "Papa" Day.
She is survived by son Ronald (Ronnie) McLain and his companion Tracena Rankin and leaves to cherish her memory grandchildren; Stephanie, Chyri, Deanna, Kendra, Monica, Ronald, Roland, TaShika, Kelly, Winter and Myrica, 20 great-grandchildren, special nephew; Albert Spencer of Columbus, GA and niece Darnell MCClain of Evansville, IN and a host of other nieces, nephews ,extended family and friends. A special thank you to Tracena Rankin for being a great caregiver and to long-time friends of Papa Day's Alcoa co-worker, George and his wife Phyllis Reed who remained true to her after Papa Day's passing.
Visitation will be Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Evansville, IN, 9:00 - 11 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Osborne is handling final arrangements. osbornefh.com
