Burkes loved shopping and usually it was for someone else, he loved to see someone smile when he found something special just for them. If he wasn’t at a Goodwill or work, he was watching some kind of sports, his favorite was basketball. His goal was for us to see every team live.
Burkes was employed for 36 years at Red Lobster Cincinnati Ohio, Evansville Indiana, and Mesa Arizona. One manager called him the “best employee he ever had, soft-spoken always with a grin and a laugh that would make your day bright.” You would never see him angry, that was not in his DNA You might walk around the corner and catch him dancing anytime.
More than anything he loved his God, Jehovah! he dedicated his life to Jehovah in November 2005. He loved talking about Jehovah to his coworkers, neighbors, family, and friends whenever possible. Burkes never missed an opportunity to share his wonderful hope of the resurrection “I can just hear Burkes say “Don’t cry, I’m in the back of the train in the sleeping section, waiting for Jehovah to wake me up in His beautiful paradise on earth.”
