William Henry "Bud" Neal, Jr. (62) born March 18, 1955 to William Henry Neal Sr. and Mary Frances Hayes in
Spring Creek, TN passed away at Deaconess hospital on
Tuesday, June 27, 2017.
Bud got his nickname from his older sisters because when his mom introduced him as their baby brother they couldn’t pronounce brother but they said, “Bud”.
Bud professed a love for Christ at an early age and attended
New Carmel CME Church in Spring Creek, TN.
Bud graduated from North Side High School in Jackson, TN and went on to attend Upper Bound at Lane College in Jackson, TN. Bud had worked in the Dietary Departments at the Evansville State Hospital, and at St. Mary's Medical Center, and 17 years at Woodbridge Golden Living until his illness in January, 2017,
for over 40 years of total work in Evansville, IN.
Bud enjoyed life, traveling, and listening to music, especially Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. In his early years, he was the leader of the “Family Band” with Ruby and Betty as his backup singers and Charles on guitar, (using the kitchen broom as his guitar ), and their favorite song that they practiced over and over until Bud felt it sounded perfect was “Rolling on the River”. Bud was very smart and also enjoyed teaching, he would often tutor high school and elementary students .
Bud was a joy to spend time with and spoke his mind and had a sense of humor, and a huge smile and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Neal Sr. , his grandparents, Leonard and Ruby Hayes , Emerson and Raymel Neal, Step-father, Lessie Robinson, sister, Linda Tomlinson, brother, Stevie Wilson, brother-in-law, William “Mickey” Tomlinson.
Bud is survived by mother Mary Frances Robinson of Spring Creek, TN and four sisters Phyllis Donnell (Rev Grapple), of Lexington, TN; Frances Tomlinson, of Evansville, IN; Ruby Martin (Jerry), of Henderson, KY; Julia Neal, of Decatur, IL; two brothers, Charles Neal, of Spring Creek, TN, Paul Pearson (Rev Valerie), of St Louis; MO;
and Special nieces,
Betty Osborne and Nakia Weathers, both of Evansville, IN and
a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
