Betty Lou Bridges, 90 peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at her home in Henderson, Ky. surrounded by her family, surrounded by love and cherished memories. While our loss is immeasurable, we find solace in celebrating the beautiful life she lived and the incredible impact she had on each of us.

Betty was born on September 10, 1932, in Henderson, Kentucky to Milton Dixon and Mildred Suggs Dixon. Betty was a remarkable woman whose kindness, warmth, and laugh touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her gentle smile and nurturing presence brought comfort and joy to our family, creating a home filled with love and laughter. She was the embodiment of strength and resilience, and her unwavering support, will forever inspire us.

Her passions for cooking and being around kids were captivating. Her culinary skills that delighted our taste buds during countless family gatherings and her calling to say “I made you a plate, but come sit down and eat.”

Betty was not only a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but also a pillar of support and wisdom for all who sought her counsel. Her patience, empathy, and ability to truly listen made her a trusted confidante and mentor to many. Countless stories from family and friends reflect the impact she had on shaping lives and the lasting memories she created.

As we bid farewell to Betty, let us remember the love and laughter she brought into our lives. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the values she instilled in each of us. She taught us the importance of family bonds, the value of compassion, and the strength of unity.


Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; Samuel Bridges, Robert Farris Sr., brother; Kenneth Dixon, sister Barbara Brooks, grandsons Wilbert Farris, Deveonte' Gaines and Dijon Anderson.

She leaves her fond memories to her sons; Robert Farris Jr. (Lori), Rodney Bridges (Sharon), daughters; Darla Farris, Cindy Gaines, Juna Frazier, Kimberly Bridges, sisters; Tommie Cole of Henderson and Sue Fletcher of Corydon, 6 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11am with funeral service to follow at 11:00am all at Memorial Baptist Church.
