Bert Michael Tyrone Payne was born in Evansville, IN on October 9, 1950, to William E. Payne, Sr. and Bertha Payne (Barrett).
Bert graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968; he attended college in Little Rock, AK where he majored in history. He joined the National Guard, and also went to cosmetology school for a year and a half ��. He worked at Res-Care over 20 years. He was a dedicated caregiver until his passing.
Bert was an avid sports lover. He was a bandwagon fan who loved the best teams LOL! He loved Serena Williams and would watch all of her matches. He loved to play cards and chess and would go to Carver Senior Center almost every day to play bingo and fellowship with his friends. He enjoyed the monthly fellowship with his classmates of 1968.
Bert met the love of his life Arlinda in 1962 when they were teenagers. They dated off and on throughout the years and finally married October 8, 1983, at Memorial Baptist Church. They would have been married 40 years October 2023.
Bert was a 'lifetime' member of Memorial Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Dr. Adrian M. Brooks. He had a quiet strength; he loved the Lord and knew the Word. God called him home Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Warner V. Payne, Sr., Rev. William E. Payne, Jr., Elton Payne, James E. Payne, Sr., Wilma Payne Casterman, Precious Payne Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Arlinda M. Payne, his son: Marq (Kim) Coleman, daughters: Marisa Tidwell, Alberta Robinson, Natalie Williams, and Delisa Payne. 10 grandchildren: Unique, Nyree, Joshua, Jazmyne, Christopher, Jack, Nazir, Jayla, Deleah and Delynn. Brother: Thomas "Buck" Payne, and a host of Payne's, Wagner's, Barrett's, Rankin's, Thompkins, and Key's family members, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Close lifelong friends: "Midget", "Miller", and "Butter". Bert will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, the 21st from 5 to 7 pm at Memorial Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Wednesday 22nd beginning at 11:00 at the church, burial at Oak Hill Cemetery following service.
