April 7, 1929 — April 22, 2017

BERNICE ELIZABETH WILLIAMS HENRY (A/K/A GRISSETT) went home to Glory on Saturday, April 22,2017 at 9:38 p.m. at the golden age of 88 years old in Denver Colorado while looking into the eyes of her loving and attentive daughter Karen Robinson , Esq.,who supervised her care. Her last words were “I want my baby back in here “when Karen, her daughter stepped out of the room briefly.
Bernice was born in Macon GA, she lived a rich and full life and with the caveat that we all grow and change in this life as we grow in Christ and age.
Bernice had fellowshipped with Cleaves Memorial CME, Greater St James , and her home church Mt Zion where she was a member of the Mother’s Board. Bernice loved praising the Lord with her gift of music she served as Minister of Music at Greater St James Church for over 28 years.
Bernice loved raising her children and grandchildren; gardening, canning vegetables and fruits; and she loved dogs. She was an outstanding home maker; she had a great love for family.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and children Henry Grissett, Jr. and Leonard Grissett.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memory her children Gwendolyn Starks Karen Robinson(Burnnie), Alice Cooper, Bruce Grissett, Gilda Turner and “Baby Ramatu” (a doll) sent to her by her loving niece Pat Horton and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank ALL friends and family for the support including, but not limited to the Evansville Protestant Home, Forest Street Compassionate Care Center in Denver, Colorado for loving her and as she would say, “Making her last days her best days”.
Visitation will be Saturday, 10:00 to 11:00a.m. with funeral at 11:00a.m., all at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 800 E. Blackford Ave., Evansville, IN. Final resting place Middle Georgia Memory Gardens, Macon, Georgia, 11:00 am Monday (Hicks and Sons Funeral Home)
