Mr., Barry E. Carter our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, cousin and friend went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 8, 2020. He was born on November 28, 1952 in Evansville, IN to Henry Carter and Gloria Kimbrew. He married his first wife, Anna Joyce on July 6, 1979, and his only daughter was born from that union. He and Anna remained friends over the years and she survives him.
Barry’s entire career, from the age of 17 until retirement, was at Indiana Bell, now AT&T, as an ESS Switch Technician. He married his loving wife, who he would spend the rest of his life with, Charlotte Bonds, on July 11, 1997.
Barry loved the finer things in life and believed in living while he was living. What brought him the most joy, later in his life, was the birth of his grandchildren. There wasn’t a time, even when he wasn’t feeling his best, that he didn’t want them around.
His hobbies included fishing, grilling, cooking, baking, watching basketball and especially football. Not a Sunday would go by during football season that he wasn’t decked out in his sports gear, ready to represent and cheer on his beloved Colts. He was extremely social and never met a stranger. Anyone was welcomed as he hosted cookouts at his house every opportunity he got. He loved to laugh and anyone present was subject to be the target of his jokes, but it was always in good humor and all knew they were loved by him.
Barry leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Charlotte Carter; one daughter, Aquarius “Lanitre” (Tameka) Love; two sons he raised from infancy, Terrell Joyce (preceded in death), William Taylor, Jr (he was their DAD!); a son he embraced as his own, Larry Bonds; four grandchildren, LaQureesha (Desmond), Tyree, Anaya, Landon; three great-grandchildren, Malik, Trinity, Jakari; two sisters, Dedra Tramill, Ida Brown; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Rod) VanDyke-Drone, Carla (John) Rankin; one brother-in-law, Vincent VanDyke; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Carter and Gloria Kimbrew; two brothers, Eddie Carter, John Carter; brother-in-law, Gary Vandyke; and sister-in-law, Margaret Leachman Marshall.
