Anna Asia Whitlock Tyler, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Majestic Care of Newburgh in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by family. Anna was born in Henderson, Kentucky on March 12, 1938, to Drury T Whitlock and Rubella Ware Whitlock.
Anna loved to share the teachings of Jehovah Witness with everyone during her field service. She was member Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness Southeast Congregation. Anna enjoyed life to the fullest. She possessed the gift of hospitality and her home was always open to many that needed a place to lay their heads. She liked teaching others to read and even tutored those that needed a little extra help. Anna received the greatest joy as a bus driver. She drove bus #V49 for many years for Evansville - Vanderburgh School Corporation. She developed a talent in sewing and worked as an upholsterer for Clev Tyler Upholstery alongside her husband Clev Tyler. Anna had many other hobbies. She loved singing, gardening, and thrift shopping at Goodwill.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband William Cleland Tyler, her parents; Drury T. Whitlock and Rubella Ware Whitlock, son; Lamont Dayan Johnson, daughter; Kimberly Johnson, three sisters and four brothers.
All her fond memories are left to her children sons; Ahmed J. Harris, Michael Johnson (Mary), Marcus Johnson (Sharifa), daughters; Carolyn Walters (Errol), Beverly Johnson-Roberts, Teresa Menefield, Aileen Dixon, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, special friend Vata Westbrook, special friend Altia Wilcox and others too numerous to name.
The family owes a gratitude of thanks to Majestic Care of Newburgh and to AseraCare Hospice. We couldn't have gotten Mom over the finish line without you. Her race is complete.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3rd, from 11am until 1pm at Osborne Funeral Home.
